Where to spend Valentine's Day in Salisbury
With its romantic restaurants, beautiful scenery and fun nights out, Salisbury is the perfect Valentine’s Day location.
With only a few weeks until the big day, here are some ways to make sure it’s one to remember:
Romance with food
Salisbury is a city steeped in traditions, and there’s nothing more traditional that a romantic meal for two on Valentine’s night.
If you’re looking for history, the Red Lion Hotel has been part of Salisbury’s story since the 13th century. Their restaurant and bar have served guests and local residents for eight centuries, and if you want to make a night of it, why not also stay over. They have a range of romantic rooms available.

The Haunch of Venison is also one of the oldest pubs in Salisbury. It has oak beams, antique furnitue and wood-panelled walls which all add to the romantic atmosphere. If you want to inject a unique extra into your Valentine's experience, check out the mummified hand!
Allium is an independent, family-run restaurant, serving the very best of modern British cuisine right in the heart of our beautiful city. Overlooking the bustling market square, Allium is perfectly situated to celebrate those important moments.
For something a little less formal on the historic Market Place head to the 18th century Ox Row Inn. Here you can both hide away from the world in one of their cosy enclaves, while enjoying a succulent steak and glass of your favourite tipple.
At Milford Hall Hotel & Spa you can enjoy a Valentine’s Day deal on the 12th and 14th of February. A four course meal and glass of prosecco is only £40.00 per person. And, if you wanted to make the day extra special you could book a treatment for your loved-one at the on-site spa.

Salisbury is lucky to have a wealth of traditional venue options, but if you want something more exotic, the city has plenty to offer too!
Thai Sarocha on New Street is a stylish, contemporary restaurant serving classic Thai curries, stir-fries and noodles. Try their delicious Yellow Curry which is one you rarely see on menus outside of Thailand.

You’ll be immersed in the colours and flavours of Mexico if you opt for a Valentine’s meal at Tinga on Salt Lane. Their food is inspired by the street foods of Mexico City and are perfect for sharing.
Cafe Diwali is a traditional Indian restaurant on Crane Street. It serves delicious Indian Street Food with all their food sourced locally. Everything is homemade, and it tastes great!
If you don’t want a meal but still want to celebrate with a cocktail, or two, make sure to stop-off at Caboose on South Western Road. The bar has been designed as a 1920s parlour and looks fantastic! Or, why not book a couples Afternoon Tea. Who wouldn’t want cake on Valentine’s Day?!

Salisbury has two to play, with different themes.
Salisbury Escape Rooms on Fisherton Street is the only escape room in the country to be created by detectives. Work out who murdered the scientist by deciphering the clues before time runs out.
Live Escape Rooms Salisbury has just been named in the top 100 escape rooms in the country. They have two locations across the city. At their Castle Street venue you can play Spectre, a game where you’ll need to work out what happened to missing scientists from the RESPECT Foundation. Or, channel your inner pirate by taking part in new game, Pieces of Eight at their newest location in the Cross Keys Shopping Centre. Work out the clues or spend Valentine’s night in the brig!
We’ve all got used to watching movies at home over the last couple of years, so why not experience a film back on the big screen in the historic surroundings of the Odeon on New Canal.
If you would prefer something a little calmer, take a walk along the Town Path. It’s one of the most romantic walks in the county and takes you from Queen Elizabeth Gardens to Harnham through the beautiful water meadows. Along the way you’ll get to see the famous view of Salisbury Cathedral, painted by Constable. Make sure to drop into The Old Mill Hotel for lunch. The 15th century building has features dating back to 1250 and makes a perfectly romantic destination for food.
