Advice and wellbeing in Salisbury

Salisbury is a city that cares.

With a commitment to quality, compassion and innovation, we take care of our people and our visitors.

If you are looking for ways to make new friends, seek out advice or increase wellbeing, there are community cafés and wellness courses in Salisbury that will help do just that:

Our Community Café

Would you like to meet new people? Find advice on a range of issues from housing to finance? You can do both at Our Community Café.

Run by Salisbury City Council’s Communities Team, the new drop in café runs weekly at the Salisbury Baptist Church on Brown Street. Each week a different local organisations will attend, addressing issues including mental health and parenting. Everyone is welcome to pop in for a FREE drink and a chat. Join them Tuesday mornings between 10am and midday.

Dig In

Dig In is a monthly wellbeing café hosted by Wessex Archaeology which includes a short talk from one of their experts. Once questions are finished, there is time to chat and make new connections over a hot drink and cake!

A great opportunity to learn something new and meet new people. It’s held at Salisbury Arts Centre once a month. The 2022 spring dates are: 26th January, 23rd February, 30th March and 27th April. Arrive anytime from 10:30am for the talk at 11am.

St Paul’s Hope Centre and SP2 Café

The Hope Centre and SP2 Café are located in a purpose-built facility opposite St Paul’s Church, Salisbury. There is a volunteer led Café on the ground floor with community hub the Hope Centre just above. It is up here that events for the whole community are held. There is a book club, children’s singing group, money management course, drop-in advice club – just to pick a few!

You can find all the information by clicking here.

St Michael’s Community Centre

St Michael’s is a vital resource in the heart of the Bemerton community, which not only provides a local café but a Community Fridge and Larder too.

The fridge and larder are kept stocked by local businesses that have donated food that is near its best before date or surplus to needs. The café is open Monday to Friday, 10:30am to 2pm and the fridge and larder are also open during these times.

The centre also acts as a hub for local clubs, with over 60s, karate, art and craft groups just some of those on offer.

You can find more details on the Bemerton Parish website.

Well-City Salisbury

Well-City Salisbury is a National Lottery funded partnership project supporting people with mental health needs in the Salisbury area. The initiative, through creative courses and opportunities such as volunteering, aims to boost wellbeing.

At the moment courses run by Well-City are only open to those who have been referred by their GP practice, support organisation or community group.

If you are eligible, there are two courses that are due to start soon:

A Journey into Print & Book Art with ArtCare, every Wednesday from 26th January to 16th March. Those taking part will be able to join artist Tamsin Loveday for a series of creative sessions to explore materials, techniques and the process of expressive printmaking and book art.

Earth Works with Wessex Archaeology, every Wednesday from 23rd February to 13th April. Why not join Wessex Archaeology experts for a series of walks and creative sessions where you will explore the origins of the city through archaeology and art.
