Family-friendly food in Salisbury

As the summer holidays draw to a close, you may be looking for ways to spend a little bit more time with the family.

Salisbury has lots of delicious dining experiences to treat all ages and all tastes, and what better time to check them out than during Taste Salisbury, the city-wide food and drink festival.

We're lucky to have a vast array of tasty food venues in Salisbury. Here are some to try.

Café life

If you want to take time out from a day of last minute back-to-school shopping, head to the Bell Tower Tearooms. Situated on the Cathedral Lawn, it gives parents the chance to relax in a magnificent setting whilst watching the kids run around. Also, in the Close, The Salisbury Museum Café, is another eaterie with a brilliant view of the cathedral. While you’re there, why not take the children for a look around the museum and delve into Salisbury's colourful past.

Sweet treats

If you're looking to up the energy levels with a hit of sugar, make sure you stop off at Wafflemeister on the High Street. With delicious waffles, crepes and smoothies on offer, you might find it difficult to choose! Sit outside to enjoy the summer sunshine. Plus, visit during Taste Salisbury and you can take advantage of a special promotion at Wafflemeister. Click here for more details.

Outdoor dining

If you want to enjoy the good weather, why not try one of these pubs which offer seating outside. The whole family will enjoy lunch next to the River Avon at The Bishops Mill or The George and Dragon. The Ox Row Inn and The Market Inn also have outdoor seating in the historic Market Place.

Dinner time

Set in the heart of Salisbury, Gigging Squid is a great option for families looking for something a little different. They have a selection of Thai favourites for all ages, with a special mix and match menu for the squidlets (children!). They also have games and colouring to keep them entertained.

Tinga, Salt Lane

From Thailand to Mexico, Tinga offers an immersive experience the children won’t forget. There are colourful decorations throughout with a huge blossom tree, foliage walls, ornate mirrors and Mexican folk art straight from the artisan market of Mexico City. As well as all this, there’s lots of finger-licking Mexican dishes. Tacos and burritos are just some of the food on offer.

Café Diwali on Crane Street is the perfect restaurant for those wanting an Indian option for the whole family. As well as the adult menu, they also have one for the kids which has been specifically designed so they get to try real Indian food but without the chili kick! If you do want some extra heat, they can do that too.

There are many more tasty options across the city centre, which you can find on our TASTE pages.

Taste Salisbury is a ten day food and drink festival running until 4th September.
