Salisbury events guide w/c 22nd August 2022

It’s going to be a big week in Salisbury as we head towards the August Bank Holiday.

We’ve got live music, treasure hunts, giant puppets and the launch of Taste Salisbury 2022.

With so much going on we’ve put together some of the events in Salisbury you won’t want to miss this week.

Fayre on the Square

If you haven’t been to Fayre on the Square yet, you had better hurry because the summer event ends on Monday 29th August.

Gather your friends and family for a game of crazy croquet or table tennis. Enjoy something tasty from one of the street food stalls or a glass of Pimms at the City Garden Bar. You’ll find all this and more in the Guildhall Square.

Enjoy a summer day at the Garden City Bar at Salisbury's Fayre on the Square

Salisbury Bear Hunt

Time’s also running out to track down all the teddies on the Salisbury Bear Hunt. There are 100 to find – have you found them all yet?! Once you have located them all, fill out the Bear Hunt form you can pick up from businesses across the city centre, and you’ll go into the draw to win prizes. Want to know more? Click here.

Stonehenge

Gnomus, the Caretaker of the Earth, is back! The giant puppet will be at Stonehenge from 27th to 29th August for a programme of family-friendly performances around history and conservation. If you book online you can save money.

There’s not just the unforgettable Gnomus to behold at Wiltshire’s ancient stone circle this week. There’s also the Stonehenge Kids' Dig and Summer Explorer Quest at the ancient site until 4th September, giving budding archaeologists the chance to unearth the past in special sandboxes and explore Neolithic houses. Find all the details here.

You'll find Gnomus at Stonehenge this bank holiday weekend

Lego Building

This is one event the children (and many adults) will love – Lego Building at Salisbury Library! There are two FREE sessions this week, on 23rd and 27th August. The lego building is part of a fun programme of children's events in the library throughout August to mark the Salisbury Rotary Club 100th anniversary celebrations. Booking is advised, which you can do by clicking here

Live music

Head to Salisbury’s Market Place for a music extravaganza this August Bank Holiday, 28th August. Salisbury Live Summer Splash features the best in local musical talent plus a special guest musician from Ukraine. There will also be food, drink and fun stuff for children - and it’s free!

Salisbury Live will be entertaining crowds again this bank holiday

Cross Keys Treasure

This is one way to keep the kids occupied whilst you’re out shopping. Set off on a pirate adventure around the Cross Keys Shopping Centre in search of seven clues to unlock the treasure chest! Once you’ve cracked the code there’s a reward waiting. You can take part in the treasure hunt until 30th August.

Swing Unlimited

Get ready for a swinging time in the Salisbury Cathedral Close this coming weekend! Another afternoon of live music from Swing Unlimited big band is in store on 28th August. If the weather is wet the event will be held in the cathedral Cloisters. Picnics are welcome, just remember your dance shoes! This is a FREE event but there will be a donation point in support for the current Ukraine Crisis, with all proceeds donated to DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.

Swing Unlimited are always an entertaining hit
