Easter fun with the children

Salisbury is a city for all ages, so if you’re looking for adventures to keep the kids occupied over the Easter holidays, we have lots of options!

Easter egg hunts, award-winning shows and even a toy swap – what will you choose to experience with the family?

Here are some ideas we think you’ll like:

Theatre and film

Plain Bob is an award-winning family show that can be seen at the Winchester Gate on 18th April. It’s a perfectly gentle show with no words, performed with mime, music, puppets and sound effects that young children will love. Click here to find out more and book.

You can spend a morning together watching the movie Storm Boy at Salisbury Arts Centre on 20th April. Based on the beloved book and starring Finn Little and Geoffrey Rush, Storm Boy is an emotional tale of a young boy growing up on an uninhabited coastline of Southern Australia.

Also at the Arts Centre, Saturday Storytime returns on 23rd April. Join actor, musician and storyteller Iona Johnson as she takes you on a story time journey. It’s suitable for ages 3 to 6 but please note children must be accompanied by an adult. There are spaces available for both performances. Find out more and book here.

Easter fun

On 16th April, The Cross Keys Shopping Centre will be entertaining children (and adults if you want!) with Easter face painting. They will be there from 11am to 4pm. For more Easter fun head to River Bourne Community Farm for their Easter Egg Hunt and Bouncy Castle. That runs until 19th April.

Meanwhile, Salisbury Museum has an Easter Trail running until 24th April. You’ll have fun trying to track down all their rabbits! There’s also an Easter Quest being run at English Heritage sites, including Stonehenge and Old Sarum. There will be clues and challenges, and traditional Easter games like egg rolling and the egg and spoon race at both sites until 24th April.

Easter Toy Swap

The Salisbury Toy Swap is back on 20th April. This is a great way for children to find new toys and get rid of the ones they don’t want any more. You can take the kids along to pick their own FREE pre-loved toys or donate your own unwanted ones. Find more information about that here.

Days out

If you fancy a day out with the family, head into Salisbury city centre on Sunday 23rd April for the City Council’s St George’s Day celebrations. There will be a whole range of activities to get involved in. There will be craft workshops, reenactments, street entertainment, Morris Dancers... and so much more! Everything for a great fun family day out in Salisbury.
